With approximately to 7,000 employees, Nokia Siemens Networks Finland is not only the company´s corporate headquarters but also its biggest research and development center.
The development centers of capital area, Tampere and Oulu have a long history, deep know-how and a strong track record in mobile network technologies. The Network Systems and Business Solution business units are located in Finland. Here we have a strong focus on and continuous development ongoing in the area of radio, packet core network and network management technologies and capabilities, next generation voice solutions and software development. For example the award-winning Flexi Base Station, Flexi ISN, Direct Tunnel, Evolved Packet Core, Mobile Softswitching, and Multimedia Gateway - to name a few only - are success stories which have their cradle in Finland.
As part of the company´s global manufacturing network, the Oulu factory is our key manufacturing location for radio products in Europe. It brings new base station products from R&D phase to mass production via world class pre-production activities and a proven ramp-up capability. The Oulu factory team also manages product transfers to other locations, gives technical support to other manufacturing locations throughout the product life cycle, develops manufacturing solutions and provides repair services.
