Niklas Savander
Executive Vice President, Markets
Starting July 1, 2010 Niklas Savander is Executive Vice President of the Markets unit. He is a member of the Nokia Group Executive Board, a position held since 2006.
Biography
He joined Nokia in 1997 and has held a variety of senior business management, strategy, sales and marketing positions covering the device and network businesses. Previously, he has assumed the role of Executive Vice President of the Services unit since 2008. In his former role as Executive Vice President, Technology Platforms, he was former for the centralized R&D execution, software and technology management as well as product creation processes across the company.
In 2003, Niklas was appointed Senior Vice President, Mobile Devices Business Unit, Enterprise Solutions.
He is the deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tamfelt Oyj and a Member of the Board and secretary of Waldemar von Frenckells Stiftelse. On April 1, 2007 Savander was also appointed as a Member of the Board of Nokia Siemens Networks.
Prior to joining Nokia, he spent nine years with Hewlett-Packard in Finland, Germany and Switzerland. During this time, he held roles ranging from the position of account manager to leading the company’s Technical Systems Business for Europe, Middle East & Africa.
He holds a Master’s degree in Science from the Helsinki University of Technology and a Master’s of Business Administration from the Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration in Helsinki. He is fluent in Swedish, English, German and Finnish.
Niklas was born August 4, 1962, in Helsinki, Finland. He is married and has two children. And he enjoys playing and refereeing ice-hockey, telemark skiing and golf.
