Biography
Armando Almeida is responsible for all operations of CO Europe and Africa at Nokia Siemens Networks. He has more than two decades of international experience in the IT sector and telecommunications industry with a proven record of passionate leadership and a hands-on management style.
Prior to this role, Armando was the head of Global Services Business Unit at Nokia Siemens Networks with strength of 45,000 people, accounting for 47% of the company’s revenues. During his tenure, Global Services witnessed a year on year growth of 12.5% in 2011 in comparison to 2010. He oversaw the successful integration of Motorola services into the Global Services business of Nokia Siemens Networks. Moreover, he was responsible for driving long-term annuity Managed Services deals with some of the world’s largest telecom companies coupled with overseeing Nokia Siemens Networks’ unique remote service delivery model.
Earlier, Armando was head of the day-to-day operations in the Latin America region at Nokia Siemens Networks from April 2007 to 2010. He was responsible for driving growth in the region along with steering it to number one position in both mobile infrastructure and services. Armando has vast experience in managed services, including leading services for Latin America and the Caribbean at Nokia Networks.
Before joining Nokia Siemens Networks, Armando was responsible for the inside sales organization at Hewlett Packard in the United States. From 1997 to 2002, he was the head of Southern Business Group sales and services for Latin America at Compaq.
Born in Africa in 1961, Armando is currently based in Finland and holds a Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. He is married with five children. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, watching movies, swimming, cycling and running.
