Mobile Backhaul solution
New mobile broadband technologies such as HSPA+, LTE and LTE-Advanced not only need to handle huge amounts of data, but also must provide lower latency to improve subscriber experience. As a consequence, more fiber is being deployed closer to the base stations – which drives significant backhaul investments. Nokia Siemens Networks and Juniper fully leverage the higher backhaul investment wave by introducing a new innovative MBH solution that encompasses new products, new cards and an integrated management system.
Innovative cell-site routers offer not only full-fledge MPLS implementation, but also wire-rate performance and 10G interfaces. “Seamless MPLS” architecture blurs the borders between access, aggregation and core, thus creating a unified MPLS network with huge OPEX savings.
The Mobile Backhaul solution by Nokia Siemens Networks and Juniper tackles operators’ challenges comprehensively by combining 2G/3G/4G Flexi Base Stations, FlexiPacket microwave, IP/MPLS routers, E2E NetAct NMS and a compelling service offering.
Mobile Site Connectivity
Our Mobile Site Connectivity solution (MSCS) defines how to connect mobile network infrastructure for 2G, 3G and LTE to IP networks, while meeting the stringent reliability, availability and Quality of Service (QoS) requirements of legacy technologies such as TDM and ATM.
Mobile Site Connectivity can be based on Juniper Networks’ EX and MX Series.

Carrier Grade NAT (CG-NAT)
To keep up with the growth of new internet subscribers, operators must migrate from IPv4 to IPv6. To help Nokia Siemens Networks customers address all the technical and commercial aspects related to IPv6 transformation projects, Nokia Siemens Networks and Juniper started a joint solution program for Carrier Grade NAT solutions.
LTE Transport Security
To secure LTE transport effectively and make sure that only authorized components get access to the network, the IPSec tunnel between base station and security gateway must be set up between trusted network components. In accordance with the principles of 3GPP, strong authentication using a certificate authority (as in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)) is required.
The Juniper Networks Security Gateway supports Nokia Siemens Networks’ offer for end-to-end secured LTE transport with 3GPP approved standards. Read more
Mobile and Evolved Packet Core Security
Our Mobile and Evolved Packet Core Security solution includes firewall clusters for standard mobile and evolved packet core interfaces. It also has a central management system for all firewall clusters which is integrated into your OSS infrastructure.
To prevent unauthorized access to the core from outside, the solution includes 3 DNS-Clusters for IP Access, GRX-Roaming and Gn-Interface.
Complementing the solution are design, implementation and integration services tailored to your specific requirements. Juniper Networks firewalls are part of Nokia Siemens Networks’ comprehensive security offerings. Read more
Multiservice IP Backbone
We deliver highly available multi-service IP backbones thanks to the pairing of Juniper Networks products with our system integration strengths and strong global service portfolio.
The Multiservice IP Backbone (MSIB) represents an IP/MPLS network that fits into Nokia Siemens Networks’ IP ecosystem. This solution is validated and tested around Quality of Service (QoS), resiliency and IPv6 support.
It assures optimized end-to-end connectivity for both mobile and fixed service providers’ sites. IP traffic of any kind – control/signaling, application or management – is delivered according to quality, availability and security requirements. The solution can be based on Juniper Networks’ T Series, T Matrix Plus, MX Series and M Series for the backbone. Read more
