Wins the Gold Award in the Green Infrastructure category of Juniper Research’s 2010 Future Mobile Green Awards

The Nokia Siemens Networks Flexi Multiradio Base Station won the Future Mobile Green Awards 2010 from Juniper Research on December 1st. These annual awards recognize the contributions to reducing the mobile industry’s greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting environmentally sustainable business practices.

Nokia Siemens Networks won the Gold Award in the Green Infrastructure category, which recognizes an infrastructure vendor’s contributions to reduce emissions, whether through facilitation of sustainable energy or energy efficiency, related to the ease of deployment.

"We are very pleased with this recognition. The Nokia Siemens Networks Flexi Multiradio Base Station is the industry’s smallest, most energy-efficient multi-standard base station and shows Nokia Siemens Networks' strong commitment to environmental sustainability,” says Tommi Uitto, Head of Wireless Access Product Management, Nokia Siemens Networks. “Flexi Multiradio Base Station supports 2G, 3G, and is LTE-ready with a simple software upgrade, highlighting our focus on commercial LTE hardware and software to meet the needs of commercial deployments worldwide.”

This is not the first award that Flexi Multiradio Base Station has received. It won the CTIA Emerging Technology Award at CTIA Wireless Las Vegas in April this year for green network innovation. Flexi Base Station was felicitated as the world's most progressive mobile network technology and chosen for the Best Network Technology Advance award at the GSMA Global Mobile Awards 2009. Nokia Siemens Networks has shipped the LTE-ready Flexi Base Station hardware to close to 140 operators worldwide.
