The OSS through Java™ Initiative (OSS/J) and the TM Forum (TM Forum) have joined forces to combine resources and better serve the telecom industry.
The TM Forum – the dominant standards body in the telecommunications OSS area – provides an OSS standards blueprint (New Generation OSS or NGOSS), while OSS/J offers a suite of Java, XML, and Web Services APIs aligned with NGOSS that quickly link OSS applications together throughout their lifecycle. The combination of OSS/J and the TM Forum adds up to a powerful, implementable OSS standard supported by Prosspero, a new one-stop-shop TMF program.
Nokia Siemens Networks is active in the TeleManagement Forum (TMF) to deliver solutions that are consistent with industry standards and to facilitate the management of networks and services.
Trouble Ticket Client v1.2 – OSS/J Qualified Product
Trouble Ticket Client (TTC) v1.2 tool is part of the Open EMS Suite (OES). TTC is integrated with the OES Platform so that data (e.g. alarms, managed objects) can be exchanged between the OES FM platform and OSS/J compliant Trouble Ticket server systems. The TTC can be accessed via the Monitoring Desktop application of the OES. It communicates with the Trouble Ticket System using the OSS/J Trouble Ticket API v1.0 (JSR91) and uses XML / JMS profile of OSS/J.
TTC is a tool that enables the fault resolution process by creating Trouble Tickets for the faults and attaching Managed Objects and Alarms to it. TTC will be used for creating and tracking the Trouble Tickets for the faults detected by the Open EMS Suite FM Platform.
OES FM v 1.2
OES Fault Management (FM) v1.2 is part of the Open EMS Suite (OES) v1.2 product. FM implements OSS/J JVT profile of OSS/J QoS FM API v1.0 (JSR 90). It implements all the mandatory functionalities of QoS FM API.
OES FM provides fault management services for OSS/J based client applications. Multiple clients can access the fault management data from OES FM at same time. OES FM provides client applications the facility to monitor new alarms, cancel alarms, acknowledge, unacknowledge alarms. It also provides the facility for fetching a list of alarms and number of alarms of different type based on the query supplied by the client application. OES FM is integrated with FM platform and provides these functionalities through FM platform.
In OES, Monitoring Desktop is the OSS/J based client application which uses the OES FM.
