For mobile operators, mobile video is a mixed blessing, generating more traffic, but little associated revenue. As mobile phones become increasingly useful to people’s everyday lives, they are using them indoors more and more, shining a dazzling spotlight on the need to provide good indoor coverage.  The issue of poor indoor reception is aggravated by the use of modern construction techniques for buildings. According to a 2012 research report by Finland’s Tampere University of Technology, the penetration of wireless signals can be up to one hundred times weaker in new buildings than in old ones, with new regulations on building insulation set to make the situation worse. As more than 85% of data and 70% of voice traffic originate from within buildings, finding solutions to provide coverage in buildings is vital.
