Long Term Evolution

Long Term Evolution, or LTE, will bring true broadband speeds, driving advanced data applications to mobile screens without the waiting. This promises to be one of the most important new mobile technology rollouts since original GSM itself.

Mobile World Congress 2008 saw the launch of the high-powered Flexi Multimode BTS which offers a smooth evolution from WCDMA/HSPA to LTE as well as core products that provide similar evolution to LTE/SAE, supporting Mobility Management Entity, Serving Gateway and PDN Gateway functionalities.

Nokia Siemens Networks has been providing GSM and WCDMA/HSPA/All-IP networks for years, offering true mobile broadband for consumers. The LTE solution will ensure competitiveness of these networks by providing the next smooth evolution step to the market.

Nokia Siemens Networks has been at the forefront of LTE development as the first supplier in the world to demonstrate LTE with data speeds up to 160 Mb/s already in 2006, and the first supplier to complete a handover between LTE and HSPA.

LTE offers an open and global specification for next generation networks that will bring scale and efficiencies for vendors, choice in network equipment and devices for operators, and ultimately lower costs and more benefits to consumers.
