Implementing Nokia Siemens Networks' solutions has enabled Indonesian operator Telkomsel to overcome logistic challenges and extend coverage into untapped markets which offer high user traffic. This has more than doubled their total revenue. After just six months, the number of their subscribers increased from 300,000 to one million.
Government College of Technology gets Telenor and Nokia Siemens Networks telecom laboratory
The Technical Educational and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) in collaboration with Telenor and Nokia Siemens Networks Pakistan has established a telecom laboratory at the Government College of Technology in Lahore to launch a Higher National Diploma (HND) program in telecommunications.
Taxation and the growth of mobile services in sub-Saharan Africa, May 2008
GSMA commissioned Frontier Economics to conduct a study into the impact of mobile industry taxation as consumers across sub-Saharan Africa face some of the highest mobile-specific taxes worldwide. The report builds on a 2007 GSMA report that examined the impact of air time taxes in East Africa and extends the analysis to taxes levied on handsets and equipment across the sub continent.
