Biography
In his professional career spanning 20 years in technology and telecom-related fields, Ashish has held various roles in engineering, sales, marketing and global general management functions in the U.S. as well as in India. With intense customer focus, a hands-on management style and strong team building skills, he enjoys the challenge of quickly scaling up operational environments. Ashish is a proven leader with a record of driving growth, developing great teams and executing and delivering key projects for Nokia Siemens Networks’ customers.
As Global Head of Managed Services from October 2007 until September 2009, Ashish had overall responsibility for the company’s network planning & optimization, outsourcing and global network operations business around the world. During his tenure, the company won some of the major Managed Services contracts globally and today ranks number 2 in Managed Services. He was one of the drivers to transform the service delivery into a unique global delivery model that has emerged as a key differentiator.
Ashish joined Nokia in December 2003 as head of the networks business in India and continued in this role for Nokia Siemens Networks when the joint venture was formed in April 2007. Under his leadership, Nokia Siemens Networks became the number one telecoms equipment vendor in India, rising from number 5 to number 1 within three years.
Prior to Nokia, Ashish was with Hughes Network Systems in Maryland, where he started his career as a software engineer working on various aspects of satellite-based communications systems for large U.S.-based enterprise customers. Later, he moved to India working for Hughes where he played a key role in growing the business from inception to over 200 Fortune 500 customers.
Born in 1965 Ashish holds an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Delhi University, India, a Masters in Computer Science from Emory University, Atlanta, GA, and an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. He is an Indian citizen with U.S. Permanent Resident status. In his spare time Ashish enjoys reading, sports and spending time with his family. In school and college he was a national level table tennis player. Based in Delhi, he is married and has two children.
