Improved 3G services for Beijing Mobile subscribers
Beijing, China – January 7, 2010
Operator deploys Nokia Siemens Networks’ technology and services for future proof TD-SCDMA network that enhances customer experience
Beijing Mobile subscribers can look forward to world-class 3G services and an overall improved broadband experience in the New Year. Beijing Mobile Communications Co. (Beijing Mobile) has selected Nokia Siemens Networks’ TD-SCDMA radio and core network platforms, alongside its planning and implementations services, to cost effectively improve its 3G coverage and seamlessly support migration to the time division variant of Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE).
China are experiencing an exponential rise in the number of TD subscribers. The need of the hour is to maintain a high and consistent standard of quality in the network. As Beijing Mobile’s key 2G vendor, Nokia Siemens Networks will fully support the operator to provide an improved and cost-efficient 3G broadband experience for customers.
“This is a breakthrough deal for us, as it marks our entry into Beijing Mobile’s 3G business,” added Ding Weiqing, head of the China Mobile business team at Nokia Siemens Networks. “With our strong base and proved services quality in 2G and 3G, we are in the right position to fully support Beijing Mobile in its plans for future LTE commercial roll out.”
As part of the new deployment, Nokia Siemens Networks will provide Beijing Mobile TD-SCDMA base stations and create a common circuit and packet core network that ensures inter-working between 2G and 3G. Moreover, the company’s future-proof TD-SCDMA solution will enable Beijing Mobile for smooth future LTE evolution.
For an efficient and smooth network upgrade, Beijing Mobile entrusted Nokia Siemens Networks to provide a range of services, like network capacity planning and turnkey implementation services. The upgrade will be carried out on live networks, without interruption of service, ensuring good customer experience.
This contract strengthens an existing 15 year relationship between the two companies, with Nokia Siemens Networks assuming significant ownership for critical projects such as the Beijing Olympic Games and the Military and Celebration Parade on China’s 60th National Day.
