Netia S.A., Poland’s largest alternative provider of fixed-line telecommunications services, has become the country’s first operator to introduce 100G (gigabit per second) wavelengths in its optical fiber network. Based on Nokia Siemens Networks’ optical transport DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) platform hiT 7300* and 100 GbE (Gigabit Ethernet)** transponder, the upgraded network provides a 40-fold increase in capacity. The solution was integrated seamlessly into Netia S.A.’s existing fiber optical infrastructure provided by a third party vendor, thereby protecting its investment in its infrastructure.
