Liquid Net elements to help provide 4G services for 96% of Moscow territory by end of 2012
Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) has launched ultra-fast 4G mobile broadband services with speeds of up to 100 Mbps (megabits per second) in most of Moscow and 40 population centers in Moscow regions. Nokia Siemens Networks is the sole vendor for the launch, providing a complete Time Division Duplex Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE)* network and a range of comprehensive services. As part of the network, the company has provided its Single Radio Access Network (RAN) and Liquid Core based Evolved Packet Core (EPC).

Nokia Siemens Networks sets TD-LTE speed record, goes beyond 4G - #1GBperday$
Equivalent to full HD movie download in 24 seconds on a commercial 4G platform
Nokia Siemens Networks has achieved world record TD-LTE throughput speeds of 1.6 Gigabits per second (Gbps). In the demonstration, the company used its commercial Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station to receive and send data in simultaneous downlink and uplink connections, reaching an overall speed of 1.6 Gbps. At this speed, a 3 Gigabyte (GB) high definition (HD) movie would download in just 24 seconds while over 1.7 GB of data could be uploaded at the same time, all via mobile broadband.

Nokia Siemens Networks helps Polkomtel increase mobile broadband coverage
Modernizes Radio Access Network and expands HSPA+ and LTE networks
Polkomtel, the Polish operator of the Plus network, along with its partner operator Aero2, have selected Nokia Siemens Networks for modernizing and expanding their GSM, HSPA+ and Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks to provide better coverage and advanced voice and data services for mobile broadband users. The companies signed a framework agreement covering delivery, integration and maintenance of the operators’ mobile access network. A separate agreement for care services has also been signed.

GSM-R upgrade by Nokia Siemens Networks to enhance security and speed on Eskisehir-Ankara high-speed train line
Turkish State Railways, T.C. Devlet Demiryolları (TCDD), is working with Nokia Siemens Networks and Thales Spain to upgrade its Global System for Mobile Communications– Railway (GSM-R) infrastructure for the rail line between Eskisehir and Ankara. Nokia Siemens Networks will supply a GSM-R network that provides reliable voice communication between staff on the train and the operation center.

Nokia Siemens Networks optical communications certified by US government
Scalable optical networking technology enables increased bandwidth on existing fiber
Nokia Siemens Networks’ optical technology has been accorded Approved Product List (APL) status by the US government’s Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). The certification, awarded in June 2012, allows the Department of Defense (DoD) to purchase and deploy the company’s optical technology, a Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) network based on its hiT7300* platform.

Mobile data traffic in India grows more than 50% in first half of 2012
Data from Nokia Siemens Networks, collected in its MBit Index, has revealed a 54% increase in mobile data traffic in India between December 2011 and June 2012. The MBit Index report aggregates primary data* – real traffic – across all the 2G (GSM and EDGE) and 3G multivendor networks managed by Nokia Siemens Networks for operators in India. The company currently provides 30% of the total 2G and 3G networks in India which provide services to about 300 million subscribers. This large sample size, amounting to a third of India’s 2G and 3G mobile networks, offers an excellent insight into data traffic across all networks in the country.
