Building more valuable customer relationships
Clearly, 2009 was a tough year for the communications industry, although nowhere near as painful as it was for the automobile, banking, construction and retail industries. But as operators tell me about their plans, I think we have reasons to be more optimistic about 2010.
Customer experience is a topic that almost always comes up in discussions. To build market share, growth and profitability, operators are aiming to deliver an experience tailored around the wants, needs and expectations of users. Adopting such a strongly customer centric model will take insight and focus. Part of this will require meeting the “Smartphone challenge,” and ensuring that the accelerating explosion of data growth does not result in a poor user experience and additional churn.
Operators have a wealth of customer data already. Analyzing this data and acting on the insights it provides will enable them to create more value for customers and build stronger relationships with them. It’s why we place so much emphasis on subscriber data management. Near real-time subscriber intelligence enables operators to deliver new, targeted services that simplify their customers’ lives.
To help you concentrate on your customers, we can take responsibility for the quality and efficiency of your networks and processes. Managed services are a perfect example of how our solutions are built around your business. We have more than 220 million subscribers on our managed services platform and over 230 managed services contracts worldwide. We won 29 deals in this space in 2009 alone, a success rate we aim to maintain in 2010.
2010 is also the year in which LTE will become more of a commercial reality. In 2009, we demonstrated the world’s first LTE call using commercial base station software, ahead of competitors’ trial deployments based on pre-commercial specifications. Now, we are delivering commercial LTE networks to operators worldwide. For example, we will be helping TeliaSonera to roll out the world’s first widespread commercial LTE network in Sweden and Norway.
So, 2010 is already shaping up to be a good year. Let’s talk business.
