Change needed, to catch the revenue express
Internet history is littered with start-ups that fell by the trackside because, despite all their promise, they failed to generate enough revenue. We live in a different world today. The Internet is unquestionably the prime engine of future growth.
The fusion of telecommunications and the Internet is an opportunity that must be captured swiftly. The revenue potential has been demonstrated clearly by the rise of social networking and the rapid growth in value that it creates.
In 2007 we saw a significant escalation in non-SMS data revenues. It's just the start. As fixed and mobile telephony, broadband Internet and TV continue to converge, we'll see operators extending their services to win new revenue in areas well outside their conventional business zones.
Meanwhile, mobile advertising holds further promise for revenue generation and one that service providers, with their wealth of subscriber data, are well placed to take advantage of.
What underpins the success of all these services is a clear focus on the subscriber - making it as easy as possible to take up and enjoy new services.
The red line running through this issue of unite is Business Transformation, at the heart of which lies the kind of transformational outsourcing that will enable service providers to overhaul their entire business model. Only by re-engineering their network and back-office activities will many service providers build the kind of responsive customer relationships they need to compete successfully in the coming years.
In fact, I'd say that in just a few years time, the majority of service providers will have outsourced the running of their networks. If you think so too, please call us and find out how we can help you to raise the revenue roof.
