Flexi Multiradio BTS
Multiradio Base Station makes network evolution easier and greener than ever
Nokia Siemens Networks has made the evolution path from 2G and 3G to LTE faster, greener and more cost-effective than ever with the launch of Flexi Multiradio Base Station. Building on the company's market leading Flexi Base Station platform, the new Multiradio Flexi expands its supported technologies to cover GSM/EDGE, WCDMA/HSPA and LTE - all running concurrently in a single unit.
Additionally, the evolution is smooth for operators. The software defined radio concept has been fully taken into use in the multiradio evolution, with software upgradeability to new technologies as well as concurrent operation of several technologies. With our Flexi base station, evolution doesn't mean disruption - any current network can be extended and expanded with the Flexi Multiradio Base station, reusing the existing sites and equipment to the maximum.

Flexi Multiradio Base Station wins Global Mobile Award
Our Flexi Base Station has been recognized as the world's most progressive mobile network technology at the annual GSMA Global Mobile Awards 2009.
GSMA was looking for the best answer to the question: How much does this new technology, application or service improve the network? The judges had to take both the end users' and network operators' perspectives into account. The software definable Flexi Base Station, with its outstanding, energy efficient performance in the industry's smallest package, convinced the jury with a number of its particular benefits to operators, users and the environment.
The GSMA judges announced the Flexi Base Station as the winner in the category 'Best Network Technology Advance' by saying: "A worthy winner, based on the successful Flexi concept, incorporating new baseband and radio technology that enables operators to migrate from 3G/HSPA through to LTE, and NSN's commitment to how it will support this type of migration strategy."
Flexi Multiradio Base Station is the first multi-radio base station already in delivery with multiple radio technologies available on same hardware and definable by software only.
Flexi Base Station delivers tangible business benefits for operators:
-
size and weight is only 20% of a conventional base station
-
cost of installation time and materials as well as site civil works are reduced by 25%
-
power consumption is up to 55% lower than that of other latest base stations in the market
