Our innovative software capabilities boost your GSM network efficiency, lower costs and improve your subscribers’ experience.
GSM networks currently serve over 80% of mobile subscribers and add around 1.5 million new subscribers each day, making it the most widely-used communications technology.
To meet the ever-increasing growth in voice and data traffic, you are looking for ways to continually optimize your network infrastructure .
Nokia Siemens Networks has developed the following software capabilities to make your GSM network more efficient, reducing environmental impact and improving your subscribers’ experience.
Dynamic Frequency and Channel Allocation (DFCA ASW)
DFCA software increases traffic capacity up to two-fold by dynamically assigning an optimum radio channel for every voice call. This increased efficiency frees spectrum for the deployment of 3G and LTE in the GSM bands. The increase in revenue could potentially be tens of thousands of dollars annually per base station site.
Energy Efficient Coverage (EEC)
EEC is similar in operation to Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) in HSPA and LTE networks. EEC can up to double the amount of traffic carried at the cell level using existing GSM spectrum, or achieve the same GSM performance using less spectrum, thus freeing up more spectrum for WCDMA re-farming. In addition EEC can improve coverage typically by 4 dB.
Orthogonal Sub Channel (OSC-DHR ASW and OSC-DFR)
OSC software can up to double the voice capacity of a network: OSC-DHR by allowing up to four simultaneous AMR–HR voice calls to be made on a single GSM timeslot and OSC-DFR by allowing two simultaneous AMR-FR calls on a single GSM timeslot. This improves efficiency, reduces CO2 emissions and energy consumption by up to 50%, and reduces total cost of ownership (TCO).
Smart Resource Adaptation (SRA ASW)
Smart Resource Adaptation software helps networks deal with the increasing use of machine-to-machine (M2M) and smart devices. The software allows for up to a five-fold increase of M2M and smart device users in existing radio networks by allocating packet resources more efficiently, based on actual usage. Increased network efficiency also leads to improved quality of service for all users.
The business benefits
