Nokia Siemens Networks’ Multicontroller Platform is the leader of a new generation of radio network controllers and transcoders for GSM and 3G networks designed specifically to deliver that fundamental competitive advantage.

Our Multicontroller Platform products – Multicontroller Base Station Controller (BSC) and Multicontroller Transcoder for GSM networks and Multicontroller Radio Network Controller (RNC) for 3G networks – provide you with all the capacity you need to serve your subscribers. 200,000 Erlangs, 50 Gbps, and 30,000 cells are some of the striking capacity figures of this new generation of products.

Even the highest capacity, though, is useless when controllers cannot adapt to the changes in traffic volume and profile.

With our Multicontroller Platform products, you can flexibly change the configuration of each of your controllers via software. The result is impressively high capacity available where and when your network needs it most - for serving voice, data or signaling.

And you can ramp up extra capacity as you need it with our innovative modular architecture that lets you add modules easily at any time and choose the capacity level within each module with software-controlled licenses.

Our Multicontroller Platform also let you select the network topology that’s best for you - from highly centralized configurations with very high-capacity controllers located at a few main switch sites to widely-distributed arhitectures with several smaller controllers located close to remote base station clusters.

And you can move from GSM to 3G as needed, with a simple software upgrade.

Both Multicontroller BSC and Multicontroller RNC can be installed as extension modules to existing controllers - the Flexi BSC controller for GSM and RNC 2600 controller for 3G respectively.

By reducing power consumption down to a low 550W per module, for example 0.2W per managed cell for Multicontroller RNC, our Multicontroller Platforms reduce your OPEX.

With a compact footprint of only 0.2 m2, (177 mm high, 444 mm deep and 450 mm wide) our Mulitcontroller Platforms are easy to install.
