Biography

Zhang Zhiqiang (ZZ) leads Nokia Siemens Networks’ operations in the Greater China Region. This includes sales and marketing, research & development, manufacturing, strategic investments, leadership development, and communication with employees and the public in the region.

Zhang Zhiqiang has more than 20 years of business experience at global high-tech companies and has been instrumental in establishing the Nokia Siemens Networks organization in the Greater China region. He led his team through the successful integration of Nokia Networks and Siemens Communications Group in the region, and has ensured continued growth for Nokia Siemens Networks ever since. 

Prior to Nokia Siemens Networks, Zhang Zhiqiang was Senior Vice President of Siemens Limited (China) and President of the Siemens Communications Group. Before this, he served as the President and CEO of Siemens VDO Automotive China, a position he held for seven years starting 1998. During his tenure, he was responsible for leading Siemens VDO’s transformation from a start-up into the leader of the Chinese automotive electronics industry.

Zhang Zhiqiang started his career at Siemens in 1987 as Assistant Manager in the Commercial and Administration Department. He later moved to Siemens Medical Group, where he worked as the Commercial Manager. In addition to his long stints in China, he has also worked in Germany and the US in different roles.

Zhang Zhiqiang majored in Electronic Engineering from Northern Jiaotong University in China. He also holds an MBA degree from the School of Business at Queen's University in Canada. He speaks English and German.

Zhang Zhiqiang is an independent board member of Georg Fischer, a public company based and listed in Switzerland, since 2004.

He is a native of Beijing and he was nominated by China Times and Sina.com as one of the 10 Outstanding CEOs of China in 2009.
