Viettel selects Nokia Siemens Networks to set up country's first 3G network

By early next year, subscribers in Vietnam will be able to access rich multimedia applications and data intensive services through their mobile phones. Viettel, the country's leading telecommunications provider is deploying Vietnam's first 3G network, and has appointed Nokia Siemens Networks as its radio network infrastructure supplier. Product deliveries begin this month.

Under the contract, Nokia Siemens Networks will provide the hardware, software and services required to build and manage the network, including skills training for Viettel's team. The network rollout will happen without interruption in any existing services.

For the network construction, Nokia Siemens Networks will implement its award winning, energy efficient Flexi Base Stations. The network implementation teams will rapidly scale to high volume network roll outs to ensure a timely launch; Services professionals will work on live networks, without interrupting the existing service to support the momentum. In addition, competence development services will ensure that Viettel's staff has the requisite skills to offer up-to-date services to their customers. The network will be configured, optimized and monitored by the NetAct network management system and will help the operator with service quality assurance for its customers.
