The Family Medical Leave Act is the US federal law under which certain types of leaves of absence are provided to eligible employees who request them for up to a total of twelve (12) weeks in a calendar year or, in the case of a military caregiver leave, up to a total of twenty-six (26) weeks in a single 12 month period.
